Antique Louis XVI style buffet in burr elm with marble top, late 19th century.
Louis XVI style buffet dating from the late 19th century, made of oak and mahogany with a veneer of burr elm. The piece features three doors and two drawers, with decorative fittings in gilded iron. The central door displays an oval medallion depicting a classically dressed woman in white relief on a blue-green background, surrounded by a gilded metal frame adorned with foliage, scrolls, and ribbons. The removable marble top, for transport, is light brown and beige, with natural variations in colour and veining. It measures 3.2 cm in thickness and weighs approximately 60 kg. The complete piece weighs around 100 kg. Ideal as a buffet or storage unit for crockery, linen, and other items. In good antique condition, with wear consistent with age and use. The marble top is intact except for a few small chips. The lock on the central door works, while those on the two outer doors do not. The furniture has been treated preventively against woodworm before shipping.
