Antique castle door in tapestry - Safavid-style floral decoration - Flat weave - 19th century Elegant antique tapestry door, typical of 19th-century castle interiors, made in flat weave. This textile piece was used to dress doors, insulate from the cold and add a touch of refinement to large residences. The decoration presents a symmetrical and abundant composition, inspired by the Safavid style: stylized palmettes, arabesques, rosettes, and plant medallions intertwine in a rich palette of carmine red, midnight blue, ivory, gold and olive green. The reverse, clearly visible in the photos, testifies to a traditional manual weaving with a discontinuous weft, typical of quality wall tapestries, without a knotted structure. Dimensions: 276 X 120 cm Material: Cotton and wool Technique: Antique flat-weave tapestry Estimated date: Mid-19th century Origin: Origin: Probably Turkey / Persia, under Safavid influence Colors: Red, dark blue, beige, gold, green Condition: Good overall condition - some wear and tear on the edges and discreet traces of time (see photos). Soft fabric, ready for use.
