Five-mantle racks in curved beech, thonet edition. Brand printed in Thonet ink on the back of the coat rack. It is composed of eight racks and eight hats (at the time you never went out without a hat: -)). Good general condition, some scratches, small traces of insect stings inconsequential. The coat holder has been treated, neither breaks nor misses, a simple deformation due to its advanced age (it is known that the wood is alive). 3 hang points per screw. These small thonet "bistro" pieces, which are useful, decorative and always elegant, are becoming more and more difficult to find. For the record: the patent entitled "wood bending in shapes" was filed by michael thonet in 1842 and he won the medal at the london exhibition the same year. This light and removed style foreshadows the secession style, the fashion of which appeared following the creation of the wiener werkstotte, in place of biedermeier bourgeois furniture. (source: lebensformen). The model of this 5-patèresthonet - kleiderrechen no. 1 wall coat was created around 1885 at 3 or 4 bare hooks, then with hangers endings from 1904 as for this copy that bears the stamp of the period before 1910.
