Style Reference: Georges Frydman. Manufacturer: SOMISER (Company for School Furniture and Ergonomics) Origin: Prestigious administrative furniture, France. Description of the piece. This sideboard is a remarkable piece of French Collective Design from the 1960s. It perfectly illustrates the transition between robust industrial furniture and the high-quality modernist cabinetry of Georges Frydman, winner of the René Gabriel prize in 1966. Designed by the SOMISER company, this piece incorporates the most sought-after aesthetic codes of Frydman's work for the EFA, while maintaining the structural solidity characteristic of state furniture. The "Frydman Codes" present on this piece: Material Contrast: The noble combination of veneered wood in warm tones and black lacquered metal, typical of post-war French modernism. Airy Architecture: A tall, slender black metal base that lifts the body of the furniture off the ground, creating a light silhouette despite its generous dimensions. Aluminium Line of Escape: The presence of a brushed aluminium strip at the top, a visual signature that emphasises the horizontal nature of the furniture, a detail found on the finest executive office pieces of the time. Functional Minimalism: Smooth sliding doors and clean facades without protruding handles, favouring a "block" architectural aesthetic. Technical Characteristics: Materials: Veneered wood structure (warm tone like mahogany/rosewood), aluminium strip, tubular steel base. Layout: Compartmentalised interior with shelves and lockers, offering a large capacity for modular storage. Dimensions: Length 1.78 m | Height 81 cm | Depth 45 cm. Condition & Authenticity. The original SOMISER label is preserved inside, ensuring perfect traceability for this "sourced" design piece. The furniture is in excellent condition, showing authentic patina and some.
