Exquisite pair of Mid Century trays, made by the legendary German company WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik), in Germany in the mid-20th century. The Ikora line from WMF is a landmark of German design from the Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern eras. This series is famous for its innovative surface treatment method, developed by Paul Haustein in the 1920s, which allowed for unique and complex finishes. High-quality silver plating over a base metal. The most distinctive aspect of this pair is the combination of surfaces. The centre features the iconic "cloud-hammered" effect (Wolkenschlag) or circular brushing that characterises Ikora, creating visual depth and a fascinating play of light. Each tray rests on three delicate yet sturdy spherical ball feet. The outline is lobed, forming a floral motif of six petals (like a clover or stylised flower). Dimensions: 26 cm in diameter and 5 cm high. In very good condition, with slight signs of use that enhance its patina. The photographs are part of the description. Excellent pieces for decoration and collection. They will be shipped in careful and secure packaging.
