Sommerso vase in blown glass, Deposit of Marinha Grande, Portugal.

Magnificent and impressive vintage blown glass art vase, made by the famous Portuguese manufacturer Depósito da Marinha Grande (original label still present and intact), circa 1960-1980. This vase superbly adopts the "sommerso" technique, trapping a bright red and opaque core within a thick and heavy transparent glass envelope. The design is enhanced by superb and large elongated air bubbles, deliberately trapped within the mass of transparent glass. These perfectly controlled inclusions testify to the artistic gesture of the master glassmaker and bring relief as well as a spectacular play of light to the piece. A sculptural piece of exceptional density, ideal for adding a touch of modernism and a unique refraction of light to your interior. In very nice vintage condition, however, a tiny superficial scratch can be observed on the transparent part at the base of the vase. Weight 3.290kg.
