Original chair designed by Arne Jacobsen. Red fabric and brushed aluminum finish. Arne Jacobsen designed the Egg chair in 1958 for the lobby and reception areas of the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. The Egg chair's design was part of a project that integrated architecture and furniture design. In this sense, the Egg chair represents the triumph of Jacobsen's holistic design. Made using a technique that was innovative at the time by Fritz Hansen, the foam shell has a very distinctive shape that allows for a degree of privacy in public spaces. A design icon, it is perfectly suited to our contemporary interiors. The shell is available upholstered in leather or fabric in various colors, always paired with a polished aluminum base.
