Hb quimper-earthenware plate wall decoration

Very beautiful Quimper earthenware plate, numbered and signed on the back hb henriot, the name of the Breton earthenware factory still in operation. The whiteness of the enamelled earthenware has remained perfect. No yellowing, nothing is tarnished. The plate is so well preserved that we could, without exaggeration, present it as new. Entirely sketched and decorated by hand, as tradition dictates. Here the centre of the plate is decorated with 2 characters, a Breton man, a Breton woman, in profile, each facing each other, in traditional Breton clothing, with hat and headdress. The rest of the plate is decorated with a delicate painted plant decoration, typical of hb henriot's decorations. The entire decoration is hand-painted, that is to say freehand on the raw enamel, by applying oxide-based colors with a brush, a technique that allows the complete fusion of decoration and enamel during firing. This traditional and artisanal manufacturing method results in slight variations in terms of color and decoration from one object to another, which makes each piece unique. The plate is protected by its glaze, which gives it this shine and reveals the colors of the patterns even more. Its edge is scalloped, that is to say that its edge is wavy and therefore does not form a perfect circle. A beautiful object, which immediately ensures a beautiful presence on the walls of a living room. Its diameter is 26.4 cm and its height is 2.7 cm. It weighs 540 g, excluding transport packaging. It is preferable to reserve its use for a purely decorative purpose. It has a clip on the back for this purpose.
