Black and white photographic print on satin Bristol board with a subtly glossy surface, depicting Brigitte Bardot in an iconic pose from the 1958 film The Woman and the Puppet, directed by Julien Duvivier and adapted from the novel by Pierre Louÿs. This print is based on a photograph by Roger Corbeau, a major still photographer in French cinema, known for his candid portraits of actors between the 1930s and 1970s. Corbeau worked with some of the greatest names in cinema, from Jean Renoir to Robert Bresson, including Cocteau and Clouzot. His style is distinguished by an intimate approach, favoring natural light, tight framing, and a rare attention to the psychology of faces. The image is part of an institutional exhibition dedicated to his work, as indicated by the note printed on the back of the print. It is presented in a 30 X 40 cm black frame under glass, with a cream mat. Excellent condition, no visible defects, ready for display.
