The trough is supported by four spiral-turned legs and has finials on the corners. The wood has a dark gold finish, which has a aged patina. This was likely intended for ferns. Ferns were extremely popular as houseplants during the Victorian era in England; there was even a coined term for this craze: pteridomania or 'fern fever'. The piece is probably English. Condition: good. It is in an antique condition, so signs of use and age are present, but there is no real damage. Dimensions: 80 cm high, 31 x 31 cm wide, 3 kg.
