Here is a beautiful light wood armchair with lovely lines, all in curves. Its tapered legs, mounted in a compass style, lighten its silhouette. It is comfortable with its deep seat and backrest that also serves as armrests, extending far enough forward to reach the palms of your hands when you sit down. It must date from the 1960s or 70s when the simple, functional Scandinavian style was sweeping through France, inspiring designers and adopted by many furniture manufacturers. For these reasons, and in the absence of any markings, I cannot provide more information about the model or the manufacturer. Another significant advantage is that its lower height allows it to be placed in front of a window without obstructing its opening. When I found it, the varnish was worn and stained in places (edges of the armrests, backrest, seat), but I did not want to sand it down and revarnish it entirely; I did not want it to look new, I wanted it to retain the patina of all its years of use. I therefore only sanded the areas where the varnish was damaged, without completely removing all the stains, and then I applied a mixture that will protect it from future damage. A mixture of pore filler and shellac that restores shine to the wood. The colour is not the same (I did not add any dye) but the smooth touch is identical. It is therefore to be embraced with its aesthetic that does not hide its 60 years (stains and various marks, colour variations). Alternatively, with some elbow grease, you could sand it down completely and revarnish it if you prefer. It is in good structural condition, very solid and stable. It is fitted with small rubber and metal pads, nailed under the feet, which you can easily remove (with pliers or a wrench) if you prefer to replace them with felt pads. It measures 76 cm in maximum height, the seat is 46 cm high and 42 cm deep. The maximum width is 53 cm.
