Transparent, sculptural, timeless, these three nesting tables in smoked plexiglass perfectly embody the aesthetic of French design from the 1970s, in line with the creations of Michel Dumas, a key figure in plexiglass furniture from that decade. Each table is formed from a single sheet of thermoformed plexiglass, curved into a continuous arc without any screws or assembly. A technical as well as aesthetic feat, which gives the whole a sense of absolute visual lightness. The smoked colour, between transparency and depth, lends them a sober elegance that is very seventies. Thermoformed plexiglass is the emblematic material of French design from this period, championed by creators like Michel Dumas and companies like Alpac. These nesting pieces are now highly sought after by enthusiasts of mid-century and Space Age vintage decor, particularly for their ability to integrate into all interior styles without ever imposing visually. Stacked or displayed in a living room, they play with light and both disappear and showcase themselves. Date: c. 1970. Colour: Brown, smoked. Materials: Thermoformed plexiglass. Dimensions: 50 X 40 X 36 cm. A rare trio, stemming from the great French tradition of plexiglass furniture from the 1970s. Signs of wear due to time, but remain in generally good condition.
