Spimeta stands for spinder metal. An innovative company that found a functional solution in the 1950s in ‘bendable metal in the form of protective goggles for chickens that could not poke each other’s eyes out with them. Nothing to do with furniture at all, but internationally successful. With this story, the experience with (bendable) metals started to grow. In the 1960s, the need for steel furniture arose and the company cleverly responded to this. This is how spimeta was founded as a producer of steel kitchen and camping furniture. In the early 1970s the company was sold and the spinder brothers each went their own way, one continued with stable design and the other continued in the furniture industry. The company still exists and is located in drachten, the netherlands, and makes small furniture, coat racks and chopping devices, among other things. This metal frame is made of steel with the characteristic cord seat. Beautiful black lacquered frame, red seat. The chair is in good condition commensurate with age and use.
