Pair of TON armchairs type 6950

Designed by J. Smidek and manufactured in the 1960s at the Czechoslovak factory Ton, one of the oldest curved furniture manufacturers in the world. The company's history dates back to 1861, when Michael Thonet founded the first factory in Bystrice pod Hostynem. In 1953, the factory changed its name to Ton. The company continues today to successfully uphold the tradition by introducing new trends and projects in the production of curved furniture. The pair of armchairs has been restored in terms of woodworking and upholstery. The wooden elements have been stripped of the old varnish, stained with a brown dye, and protected with several layers of semi-matt varnish. The upholstered elements have been carefully replaced and recreated to resemble the original.
