Vintage pendant lamp made of Plexiglas and braided wire, designed by Paul Secon for Sompex, Germany circa 1960. Sleek design with a Plexiglas frame and braided wire. Paul Secon designed many variations of this iconic lamp. The Plexiglas dome allows for maximum light diffusion, and the graphic braided wire creates a dramatic lighting effect. Sompex was founded in 1948 by Rolf O. Burghard as an import and export company in Soest, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. In 1950, they moved to Düsseldorf. Sompex was the exclusive importer of Scandinavian design and grew rapidly. Since the 1970s, Sompex has focused on interior lighting. The company is family-owned and still exists today.
