This Louis Philippe mirror from the mid-19th century shows the gold leaf frame that was typical of refined French furniture production of this period. The wooden frame is covered in gold leaf and forms a flat, lightly profiled moulding without ornamental excess. The distinguishing quality of the Louis Philippe era is precisely this restraint: a mirror as a surface frame, not as an ostentatious object. At 75 cm wide and 95 cm high, this wall mirror is equally well suited to a hallway, bedroom, or salon. The format provides a generous sense of depth without dominating. As a 19th-century Louis Philippe mirror, it pairs with other pieces of the period as well as with reduced modern interiors, where a historical piece is used as a deliberate counterpoint.
