Large Collectible Shell "Horned Helmet" - Cassis cornuta - 15.6 cm DESCRIPTION: A superb and impressive specimen of a large collector's shell, a Horned Helmet, whose scientific name is Cassis cornuta. It is a stunning piece for a cabinet of curiosities or for a marine-inspired interior design. Native to the Indo-Pacific region, this shell is one of the largest gastropods. It is fascinating for its incredible duality: Its exterior is thick and heavy, with a row of very prominent "horns" (tubercles) that give it a prehistoric appearance, and a color that combines brown and cream patterns. Its interior, visible through the wide opening, is completely smooth, shiny like porcelain, and a magnificent apricot color. Condition: Excellent condition for a natural specimen. Collector's grade (F++), with no major chips, cracks, or repairs. The horns and the rim of the opening are well preserved, which is a sign of quality.
