Prunelle oval tray by boch frères keramis, from the 1890s. Produced at around the same period, between 1892-1900, the “prunelle”-design was another successful art nouveau product from the boch la louvière manufactory; though exceedingly more rare. Based on the blackthorn/sloe plant (prunus spinosa), the prunelle is a more boisterous yet extremely refined interpretation of the traditional flower-motive inherent to the art nouveau-period. The tray is finished in the classical green colour used by boch during this period. Condition: the tray shows signs of use and aside from a small chip (see pictures for more details), it is in a very good condition. Dimensions: length 35cm/13, 7 inches; width 25cm/9, 85 inches; height 3, 5cm/about 1, 3 inches. Made in Belgium.
