Dragon-styled floor ashtray – gilded brass – 1960s

Astonishing brass footed ashtray, adorned with a spectacular stylised dragon. The piece consists of a finely chiselled tray with arabesque patterns, supported by a fluted brass column and a dark turned wooden central shaft, bringing contrast and elegance to the whole. At the top, a dragon with sinuous lines spreads its wings, forming a small bowl, likely intended to hold a liqueur glass or a removable element. This sculptural presence gives the object a distinctly theatrical and decorative character. The whole evokes the decorative productions of the 1960s, in a neo-baroque vein blending whimsy and sophistication. In very good condition: uniform golden patina, slight signs of age consistent with its years, no structural weaknesses, perfectly stable.
