Renovated vintage dresser, Scandinavian style, 1950s-60s.

French chest of drawers from the 1950s-1960s, in the spirit of the Reconstruction, a period when furniture became lighter and more refined after the war. Its design recalls the creations of that time, with simple lines, measured volumes, and an emphasis on wood. The publisher is not identified, but the construction and attention to detail are characteristic of quality furniture from those years. Its facade consists of four wide stacked drawers, with a decoration that extends from one drawer to the next: the grain forms a continuous large chevron, a V engraved at the center of the piece that gives the whole a lot of movement. The wood, a light blonde oak with soft and luminous grain, transitions from the light honey of the sides to the warmer caramel of the fronts. The slightly slanted sides extend beyond the top and form small lateral edges, a graphic detail that marks the style of the era. Each drawer is equipped with two fine curved metal handles, original, that fit the hand and highlight the sobriety of the facade. The piece rests on an oak base composed of tapered front legs, flared and slender, and straight legs at the back. It thus appears suspended above the floor. This chest of drawers will find its place in a bedroom for storing linens and clothes, as well as in an entryway, living room, or office, where its top can hold a lamp, vase, or decorative objects. Four drawers provide ample storage capacity for a piece with compact proportions. It has been completely sanded to reveal the softness of the wood and its grain, then protected by a matte clear oak varnish that preserves its natural appearance. The original handles have been carefully cleaned. The whole is in very good condition for its age.
