Chapel of tremalo, pont-aven (finistère) Walk in the bois d'amour. Oil on canvas mounted on chassis. 14/04/1974. Dimensions: 35x27 cm. The paint flakes slightly, see photo (roof of the chapel) Pont-aven is a small breton town known for its cakes but also for being a high place of inspiration for painters. Small point history of art, it is in the chapel of trémalo that is the polychrome christ who inspired the famous yellow christ of gauguin. It was also at the bois d'amour that paul sérusier's le talisman was painted, one of the "founder" paintings of the nabi movement. It was there that paul gauguin gave a famous painting lesson to sérusier: "how do you see these trees. They are yellow. Well, put on some yolk; this shadow, rather blue, paint it with pure ultramarine; those red leaves. Put vermilion".
