Greige Herman Miller Vintage Original Eames DSW Side Shell Chair

An excellent vintage, original Herman Miller Eames side chair looks fantastic in light greige sat upon its complimentary used, newer, walnut ‘DSW’ dowel base. Greige side shells are a highly coveted colour for the Eames shell chairs and this version is in excellent vintage condition. The Eames shells require little introduction with prototypes beginning in the 1940s, production began in 1950. Arm shells were the first to be produced and the side shells were introduced in 1952/1953. Greige was one of the first colours the original shells was produced in and has proven to be an excellent collector’s piece. The earliest examples are defined by their highly fibrous finish adding an extra depth to the colour of the shell. Individual Characteristics. As a highly coveted colour, this shell is a fantastic example to own. The chair does show some natural signs of wear around the edges but is in great vintage condition. The shell only displays the patent label which indicates it is an early example produced by Herman Miller.
