Colourful handmade rug, 250 x 160 cm - AZ835

A vibrant handmade Moroccan rug that combines traditional Amazigh weaving with a resolutely artistic, almost abstract composition. Set against a warm, natural ivory wool background, the design features bold geometric shapes, irregular lines, and richly textured areas of colour. A close-up reveals one of the most distinctive details of this piece: the large upper motif is woven with a dense mix of differently coloured wool fibres, creating a beautifully pointillist tactile effect that could never be exactly replicated. Each rug is handwoven by Amazigh (Berber) artisans, made from 100% natural sheep wool, woven on a traditional Berber loom, individually knotted and finished by hand, created using traditional Moroccan weaving techniques and completely unique in its kind. No mass production — only authentic Berber craftsmanship. The natural ivory base is enlivened by a rich mix of deep red and burgundy, cobalt blue and denim, terracotta and burnt orange, mint and soft green, black, ochre, dusty pink, and small multicoloured accents. The variations within the individual patterns give the rug much more depth than a conventional solid-colour design. The composition appears wonderfully spontaneous. At the top, a large multicoloured geometric medallion becomes the visual focal point, framed by black curved lines. Below, two interlocking rectangular patterns introduce a stronger architectural geometry, while irregular blue zigzags and a pale green ladder-shaped border run along the sides. Small coloured marks near the lower edge complete the composition. Rather than following perfect symmetry, the design celebrates the visual language of hand weaving: slight irregularities, changing proportions, and unexpected combinations of patterns. These details give the rug its personality and immediately make the artisan's hand visible. Magnificent in eclectic interiors, contemporary homes, modern Mediterranean spaces, artistic and gallery-inspired interiors, bohemian settings, mid-century modern rooms, maximalist spaces, and neutral interiors needing a strong focal point.
