Good general condition for this large clay pot of romanian handmade. Signed "ilyés V. Mihaly" (ilyés vészti mihaly), it comes from corund (korond), a bastion of romanian ceramics located in transylvania, in the heart of a region populated by the sicilians (ethnic group speaking a hungarian dialect). The first historical writings that mention the manufacture of pottery in corund date from 1613. Inspired by the nearby pottery school of odorhei and constrained by infertile agricultural land, the villagers then turned to clay work. The quality of the soil used is fine and without impurities, it is extracted in the vicinity of the village. The typical floral motifs are inspired by the surrounding nature and everyday life. Of all, the know-how of the ilyés family is the most noticed. The quality of their work is recognized at the national level. Diversity and richness of decorative motifs, their artisanal creations continue to innovate while being inspired by traditional sicul motifs. Generous dimensions: h 19 cm X ø 17 cm. Handmade and handmade decoration. Colors: cream and black. Condition: good general condition, some traces of time, superficial cracks above one of the handles, which do not threaten the piece or its solidity (see photos) Neat shipping.
