CERAMICA #76

The ceramica series is inspired by glazed earth using ancestral techniques. Glazed and fired at over a thousand degrees, their translucent appearance reflects light and makes the colors deep. All my work is to transcribe them onto my canvases, to try to bring this magnificent material to life, to go to the sources to sublimate it, to be inspired by its vibrant colors to soothe our souls. The colors of mixed earth evoke the return to simple, raw, and natural things, recalling the gentle and reassuring protection of the nourishing earth.
