City dream. Size: 56.5 X 66cm (including frame) Oil on canvas. A poignant and atmospheric mid-century cityscape composition, executed in oil onto canvas. In the foreground, a group of figures stand together, with their backs turned to the viewer as they gaze towards distant buildings. Semi-abstract in nature, realistic details have been deliberately omitted, allowing the viewer to focus on the emotional resonance of the scene. Using a limited and moody palette dominated by dark blues, with subtle undertones of brown and hints of light yellow, the artist displays his mastery of colours by skillfully layering the respective shades to create a textured finish, adding depth to the overall composition. The cityscape in the distance is shrouded in mystery and the overall atmosphere is hauntingly beautiful, evoking a sense of melancholia.
