Decorative plate in Belgian faience signed H. Bequet, from the "Java" model, recognisable by its elegantly scalloped shape and its sumptuous hand-painted polychrome floral decoration. The composition, particularly expressive, combines large orange flowers, powder pink peonies, delicate small bouquets, and bluish foliage, in a balance that is both generous, luminous, and very refined. Each brushstroke reveals meticulous work, typical of the finest decorative productions of the manufacture. Handwritten stamp A36 Java H Bequet as well as an E marker embedded in the paste, a true technical marker of mould production, guaranteeing the authenticity and traceability of the piece within the Quaregnon workshops. Founded in 1934, the Hubert Bequet faience factory is renowned for its richly coloured decorative pieces, produced mainly in the 1950s and 1960s, the peak period of the manufacture. The Java model is part of the most decorative series and today is one of the most difficult to find in good condition. In excellent vintage condition, vibrant colours, shiny glaze. No cracks, no chips. Light natural patina of time, full of charm. Diameter 23 cm. A rare, joyful, and elegant piece, perfect in a chic cottage setting.
