DESCRIPTION: A beautiful antique chair by Jakob and Josef Kohn. Jacob & Josef Kohn was an Austrian furniture company founded by father Jacob Kohn (1791-1866) and his son Josef Kohn (1814-1884) in 1849 in Vienna. They became a major competitor to Gebrüder Thonet and collaborated with artists from the Wiener Werkstätte. The influence of the Thonet brothers is clearly visible in this antique bentwood chair. Of course, with the same bentwood technique, beautifully curved wood, classic caned seat, and elegant design. The chair is easy to move thanks to the handle in the backrest. This piece dates from before 1914, thus before the merger with Mundus. The chair therefore has a clear Art Nouveau design, fitting for that era. In summary: a very beautiful antique caned chair for lovers of timeless design. DIMENSIONS: Height: 88.5 cm Width: 40 cm Depth: 44 cm Seat height: 48 cm. CONDITION: Good condition. The caning is missing a few strands on the edge and there is a bit of play in the legs (see the last photos for a better view of the condition). WELCOME TO THE SHOWROOM: You are welcome to the 500 m2 showroom in Amsterdam South, opposite the UMC hospital. It is easily accessible by public transport as well as by car. It is located directly next to the A10 (ring road). The showroom is outside the environmental zone. Free parking for customers on site.
