Very large exceptional mirror. Original gold leaf gilding, mercury ice cream

Very large exceptional mirror dating from the late nineteenth, early twentieth, in its gilding with the original gold leaf! Original mercury ice in excellent condition. Sumptuous and impressive. It comes from a mansion in the paris region, having belonged to a rich family who had made fotrune in fur. This mirror had always been there, in the office, framed by two libraries. Very large and extremely bright, it has an incredible presence and literally illuminates the places where it is placed. The pediment represents a large shell surrounded by branches and leaves that run along the top of the frame. The motifs reproduced throughout the frame are of great finesse and reproduce an alternation of shells and alkanthus leaves. A row of pearls, again very neat since they alternate patterns too, runs along the huge mercury / tin ice of origin too. We see two places where it is slightly stung (upwards) but it remains harmless, and it is in a remarkable condition. Its reflection is both intense and warm, as always with these mirrors. There is only one small gap in the frame, the left sheet that goes up to the shell is shortened. This is almost invisible, especially if it is placed on a fireplace. But given its size it can just as well land directly on the ground. Gilding explodes in the room at the first ray of sunshine. The back is, as it should be, original parquet. Height: 188 cm.
