Accolay ceramic sun lamp

Ceramic sun lamp from the Poterie d'Accolay, 1960s-70s. Founded in 1945 in Yonne by four former students of Alexandre Kostanda, the Poterie d'Accolay produced ceramics for nearly forty years that were sold along holiday routes, becoming emblematic of post-war France. This lamp base, in the tradition of large glazed jugs, combines a ribbed brown-ochre body with two generous handles, beneath a textured glaze that captures the light. The cylindrical lampshade has been completely refurbished by a professional artisan.
