Berber carpet with short hair type Moroccan Kilim

Hand-knotted by the berber woman of the high atlas mountains, berber carpets are made from raw virgin wool by alternating composted patterns of a single knot and one or two woven lines. Carpets are still made on traditional wooden looms. The carpets are distinguished by their abstract reflections and the techniques are transmitted from mother to daughter of the different tribes present in these mountain regions. The writing found on the carpet tells a story, although it is no longer directly related to the woman who created it, they still share traditional writings about rural life, femininity, spirituality, motherhood, marriage and careers.
