Andrea Branzi Axale Sofa for Cassina Italy 1988

Postmodern sofa, model axale, designed by the architect and designer andrea branzi in 1988 for cassina. The sofa is marked with the original cassina label underneath the seat. It has an arc shaped base upholstered in blue leather with a seat in dark blue leather. The backside is in steel mesh and the original folding cushions are upholstered in a fantastic moire-like orange fabric. Andrea branzi was very important in italian design history. In 1966 he was one of the founders of archizoom, in 1966 he established alchimea and in the 1980s he began to associate with the memphis group. His works are included in the permanent collection of various museums worldwide. The sofa is in very good condition. Just minor traces of use on the leather seat.
