Hello. I am offering an oil on canvas from 1924 signed by Ludvig KOROLEUV, situated between late Impressionism and Fauvism. This work depicts an autumn landscape with a tiny figure at the foot of a tree searching for mushrooms. This oil on canvas is a true scene of silent life, with a small human silhouette that allows one to measure the vastness of the surrounding Nature, referencing BARBIZON. Thus, the painter aims to show an opposition between the dominant and unchanging force of Nature and the brevity of all human life. This silhouette provides a sense of distance and a central perspective marked by a stream that guides the viewer's eye into the distance towards the heart of the forest. This character is the only visible living being in this autumnal setting, which fades until the following year to reappear in spring. There is also a poetic contrast between the top of the painting with golden leaves and ethereal light in a spiritual silence, and the bottom of the painting with this solitary figure and the relationship to the earth, survival, harvest, and the nourishing cycle of Nature. While revealing the fragile beauty of Nature in transition, this work invites contemplation, to slow down, and to feel the gentle melancholy of passing time. The verticality of the trees creates a repetitive rhythm that gives a robust structure to the composition, contrasting with the more organic and horizontal forms of the banks of this stream. This perspective allows for a visual rendering of a vast space. This work is signed Ludvig KOROLEUV, 1924, and this signature is well embedded in the pictorial material. In the 1920s, PARIS welcomed thousands of Russian and Slavic artists fleeing the revolution and seeking modernity. Dimensions of the wooden frame: 66 cm X 48 cm. Dimensions of the canvas: 49 cm X 30 cm. Robust shipping. Very serious seller.
