Very old rustic table made of ash and cherry from the 18th century in the Louis XV style. While it is impossible to date it precisely, it can be said that it was made between 1750 and 1780. The curved legs and the shape of the apron (the crosspieces connecting the legs) are characteristic of the Louis XV style. As for the period, one can recognise a piece of furniture predating the 19th century by the thickness of the boards used and the irregular saw marks left on the boards by the long sawyers, which are visible on the back of the crosspieces. The wood that has been hand-planed shows an uneven surface with cuts and some signs of wear. This table comes from an old village café in the Lyonnais mountains. It was in very poor condition and has been fully restored in a traditional manner: the ends of the legs had to be redone, the top was removed, then rejoined and glued with hide glue before being screwed back onto the apron. The table was then hot waxed with beeswax, giving it this honey colour. The legs and the top are made of cherry, while the four crosspieces are made of ash.
