Bonbon – soft and circular two-seater canapé

It's a rather unusual sofa. The interior of a four-seater that passed away far too young has become the donor for this little heavyweight. The original upholstery had reached the end of its life, but the foam inside remained in exceptional condition. As the cushions were stacked beneath me in the workshop, I discovered they formed an incredibly comfortable seat. In many ways, the material had already designed the object. Part of the original wooden frame was rebuilt to fit its new proportions. The Nosag spring system was practically unused and effortlessly supports this new soft composition. The legs became unnecessary; the generous double layer of foam naturally created the perfect seat height. With the help of a traditional upholstery knife, I hand-sculpted the final silhouette before carefully sanding each curve. And there it stood. A decidedly plump two-seater, containing enough high-quality foam to furnish an average four-seater sofa. For me, BONBON is both a celebration of quality furniture materials and a gentle protest against our throwaway culture. Why consume new resources when the best materials are often already in front of us? It occupies a room with confidence. It's a sofa that has presence—perhaps even because it rests directly on the floor instead of delicate legs. It seeks an equally independent interior, where it can continue its life as a second-hand companion for many years to come. Materials. Reclaimed wood. High-quality reclaimed upholstery foam.
