This freestanding Kidney Desk was manufactured in Denmark during the 1960s. The piece is an excellent example of Scandinavian Mid-Century Modern design, combining a distinctive organic form with outstanding functionality and high-quality craftsmanship. The desk is crafted from teak wood. Its characteristic kidney-shaped tabletop is supported by slender tapered legs. On one side, the desk features spacious drawers with sculpted wooden handles, while the other side houses a rounded cabinet fitted with a tambour door. Open shelves for books and documents are positioned at the rear. The beautifully finished back allows the desk to be positioned freely in the centre of a room and admired from every angle. The desk has undergone professional woodworking restoration. The wooden elements were stripped of the old coating, stained in an oak colour, and finished with a durable high-quality semi-matt lacquer, which protects the surface while enhancing the natural beauty of the teak grain. The unusual organic shape of the tabletop, practical storage solutions, and warm tones of the teak give the desk the distinctive character of Danish design from this period.
