Vintage set sofa and armchairs deep olive velvet design by Knut Seater

The sofa and pair of armchairs is in very good condition. The upholstery has been restored. Probably teak wood made off. The product colors shown in the photos may differ slightly from the actual colors. An elegant lounge set comprising a three-seater sofa and an armchair, designed by Knut Sæter for the renowned Norwegian manufacturer Vatne Møbler in the 1960s. It features remarkably clean, geometric lines—the very essence of Scandinavian modernism. The design rests on a lightweight yet sturdy rosewood frame, featuring distinctively contoured, gently curved armrests. The form is minimalist yet inviting rather than austere; soft edges, balanced proportions, and plush upholstered cushions create a harmonious blend of elegance and comfort. The green velour upholstery adds a touch of refined sophistication that contrasts beautifully with the natural wood. While some catalogs attribute this set to Fredrik Kayser, Vatne identifies Knut Sæter as the primary designer. Although the company did collaborate with Kayser, Sæter designed his own sofas and armchairs—pieces that were often more austere in style yet highly distinctive.
