Large bottle of cognac from the major brand Courvoisier, Jarnac, France dating from the beginning of the 20th century. Mouth blown, bubbles and imperfections, thick glass but with a beautiful transparency tinted light green. The bottle is marked directly on the glass: its brand and origin, and above all the words "federal law forbids sale or reuse of this bottle" ("federal law prohibits the sale or reuse of this bottle") proving that it has was produced during American Prohibition (1920 to 1933, a period during which an amendment to the United States Constitution prohibited the manufacture, transportation, sale, import and export of alcoholic beverages). Americans are very fond of cognac, especially in speak-easies (clandestine bars).
