This Art Deco bibus in elm burl veneer, made around 1940, features a balanced silhouette where the warmth of the precious wood combines with a sober and geometric architecture. The elm burl, with its deep swirls and intense reflections, envelops the façade in an organic movement that contrasts with the rigor of the lines, creating a subtle interplay between natural and structure. The alternation of open niches and a closed compartment creates a visual rhythm typical of late Art Deco, where functionality is accompanied by discreet elegance. The tubular metal handle extends this modernist aesthetic by adding a touch of cold verticality that highlights the door and accentuates the purity of the design. Inside, the two shelves maintain the same warm hue, offering a refined continuity even in the hidden parts. The whole rests on a slightly recessed concave base that lightens the piece and gives it a stable yet airy presence. This bibus naturally finds its place in a contemporary or vintage interior, where it becomes a centrepiece capable of bringing character and timeless sophistication. Period: 1940. Restored in our cabinetmaking workshop. Finish: shellac & wax. 602V.
