Picture Portrait of General Pittie signed Armand-Dumaresq

Oil on canvas, portrait of General Pittié (1829-1886) in uniform with his decorations. This painting is signed Edouard ARMAND-DUMARESQ (1826-1895) and dated 1883 at the bottom right. This oil has been réentoilée. This general of division distinguished himself in the battles of Sebastopol, Solferino and during the war of 1870. He represented the President of the Republic in Russia at the coronation of Alexandre III. He is also known for his literary work under the name of Francis Pittié.
