Antique silver-plated coffee pot made in Sheffield, England between 1890 and 1910. Silver plating refers to the process invented in the city of Sheffield around 1743 by the jeweller Thomas Boulsover. The items are made with metal obtained by hot-rolling sheets of silver onto copper. This process became obsolete after the adoption of the silver plating system (plating the base metal by galvanic bath), which began in 1850. This treatment was commonly referred to as "Silver Plate". The antique coffee pot bears the label of the original manufacturer. A certificate of authenticity is issued by an Italian jewellery company. Very good vintage condition.
