An exquisite and spectacular credenza, louis XVI style furniture, made around 1830 by the krieger house, after the work of the eminent cabinetmaker jean françois leleu. It has a body entirely in mahogany marquetry enhanced by a particularly fine gilded bronze decoration and a thick marble top of caunes minervois. It opens through a wide door and three drawers. It has some traces of use such as very small notches or surface stripes, and a small splinter of veneer (on the left side, visible in the photos), but we decided to leave the credenza intact, in its original condition and in excellent condition, except for a gentle cleaning, because we did not want to alter the sublime work of cabinetmaking. Stamped krieger house on the back. Maison krieger was founded in 1827 by brothers antoine and nicolas krieger, both merchant-merciers and furniture manufacturers. Maison krieger became antoine krieger et cie in 1850 and before the end of the nineteenth century, the company was one of the largest furniture workshops in paris, located at 74, rue du faubourg-saint-antoine. Specialized in the production of different styles of french furniture, from louis XV to the empire, maison krieger was one of the most important french furniture manufacturers of its time. Read less.
