Description
This oil on panel represents a young woman probably italian, it was made by alexandre-jacques chantron (1842-1918), french painter, pastellist and photographer. His early works consisted mainly of portraits and still lifes. Later, he painted nudes in the tradition of bouguereau, a theme he continued to develop while experimenting with the new medium of photography. The work is of quality both in the look, the details of the jewels and the clothes. The frame is in gilded stucco, for the most picky we report two small accidents not very visible, one at the bottom left and one on the edge. The work has been cleaned and restored, it is in a very good state of conservation, note a slit in the middle of the painting hence the traces on the back.
