Wall showcase

Upper part of an old solid oak parquet clock completely renovated and revisited as a wall showcase. To achieve this result and carry out a quality restoration, I first removed the three panes, dismantled the structure and unclipped the three doors. I then cleaned all the pieces of wood (stripping and leaching). I made entures to remove the damaged or pitted parts, changed the two pillars of the left door (mortise creations and foliage) and replaced the tops and bottoms in which I made mortises and grooves to integrate the back panel and the four uprights previously cut to have squares. I deepened the foliage of the doors to be able to nail parcloses, the windows being at the base held by putty, then I repegged and glued the three doors. I changed the entire opening system by installing solid brass hinges with round knots, a magnet on the two side doors and a ball latch on the central door. I covered the back plywood with a fabric with floral patterns that I varnished (four layers with ginning). I sanded the whole thing by hand with abrasives of different grains, an essential step to have a clean and smooth surface. I then glued the structure and made two oak shelves placed on brass cleats. I inlaid on the back two metal brackets to reinforce the structure as well as two plates for hanging on the wall, then I cleaned and polished the three door knobs. I applied different finishing products for the protection and final appearance of the furniture, two layers of fondant (product used as a primer), two layers of shellac (patina based on wax and natural resin) and three layers of wax to patina, with a very fine steel wool ginning between each layer. Finally, I polished the furniture with different materials.
