The natural wood structure features a shaped silhouette, characteristic of French seating furniture from the mid-18th century. The straight-backed seat is framed by a sinuous moulding and topped with a slightly undulating upper rail, adorned with a low-relief carved decoration. The heavily shaped apron is enhanced in its centre by a sculpted motif of rocaille and floral design. The armrests, fitted with arm caps, rest on curved consoles that harmoniously integrate with the overall line. The cabriole legs flare outwards at the bottom and end without added feet, in accordance with the customs of the time. The carved decoration, executed with restraint, consists of stylised plant motifs (leaves, small flowers) and discreet rocaille elements. The ornamentation highlights the structural points of the seat (back rail, apron) without excess, reflecting a balanced quality production. The upholstery is covered with a polychrome floral tapestry on a dark background, reminiscent of French productions from the 18th century, particularly those from the Gobelins or Aubusson manufactories. This armchair illustrates the characteristics of the Louis XV style, with a predominance of curved and asymmetrical lines, a departure from the strict symmetry inherited from classicism, a naturalistic inspiration in the decoration, and a pursuit of comfort and elegance in domestic furniture.
