Grey bookcase display cabinet

This is a useful cabinet which dates to the late 1800s. It could serve a variety of purposes, for storing books, displaying small treasures or perhaps for use in a kitchen. The cabinet is made of mahogany and pine and is fairly narrow and shallow, the compact size making it ideal for a home with limited space. It is quite simply designed with sliding glazed doors to the front which open to reveal fixed shelves and a panelled back. The cabinet is set on cabriole legs to the front and tapered block legs to the rear, the top has a recessed area behind the corning. I have hand painted the exterior in my own mix of earthy gray paint before distressing the finish well and waxing the paintwork with dark wax for some added depth of color. The paintwork is solid color with a smooth low sheen finish. The interior has been painted in black which contrasts well against the pale exterior paintwork. Condition. The cabinet is in fairly good condition, there are a few old wood worm holes to the right-hand side panel which have been treated and the back panels have some small gaps and cracks here and there. The top corning had two small cut-outs in the wood near the back, these have been filled with small blocks of wood. The left-hand door is a little stiff to slide. Measurements. Height - 129cms. Width - 92.5cms. Depth- 31cms. Shelf heights- 31cms bottom, 22.5cms second, 21.5cms third, 17cms top. Shelf width-79cmsshelf depth-21cms. The measurements are taken at the widest points.
