Large oil on canvas by the painter Maurizio Bini (Livorno, 1940). Signed lower left and dated 1972, it bears the title "Landscape Study 2" on the reverse. Dimensions: 123 cm X 93 cm. Maurizio Bini was born in 1940 in Livorno, where he lives and works. He studied decorative painting at the Passaglia Art Institute in Lucca (later the School of Fine Arts), where he taught painting from 1970. He then joined the School of Fine Arts in his hometown, where he trained generations of artists who remained very close to him. His career began in the early 1960s, when he participated in various exhibitions and competitions, winning several prizes. Since 1967, he has been a member of the Il Minotauro gallery in Livorno, where he met and collaborated with numerous artists. He found particular similarities in his artistic intentions with the group of Tuscan-Milanese painters Martinelli, Ferroni, Banchieri, Luporini, and Bartolini, with whom he exhibited on several occasions. He shared with these artists an interest in figurative painting that addressed critical and existential situations and intentions. His work also regularly influenced Pier Luigi Romani of Lucca and the Livornese artists Madiai and Gigli, with whom he shared pictorial ideas and commitments. He met the critic Mario de Micheli, with whom he formed a relationship. De Micheli wrote the introduction to his exhibition at the Giorgi Gallery in Florence and invited him to several important exhibitions, including international ones. In the 1970s, he met the gallery owner Ghelfi, with whom he collaborated on several occasions for over a decade, producing several catalogues and two monographs, with prefaces by Enzo Fabiani (1972) and Franco Solmi (1981), respectively. With the Ghelfi Gallery, he participated in several editions of ArteFiera in Bologna and ExpoArte in Bari. He then met the critic.
