Counter of the 19th century

This splendid counter has a crazy presence and a unique patina. It offers plenty of storage. On the left, a door mounted on external hinges opens thanks to a key and a lock (functional) on two shelves. The lower one is made of solid wood, the middle one in plywood. We notice the beautiful storage space and the old lock entrance. In the center, the counter offers an office space that allows an adult to sit with a normal chair. With a central drawer with the beautiful original gold handle. This drawer was used to cash customers and could receive cash directly through the slot drilled for this purpose in the tray (see photo). On the right, two drawers with golden handles surmount a last storage space with solid wood floor. The bottom of the cabinet consists of a beautiful thick skirting board (the one on the right is reported) and the front is paneled in solid pine in the rules of the art. Thus he offered a finished and aesthetic face to the customers. We notice the magnificent knots on the flats and the patina of honey. The top is made of 4 imposing boards of darker solid pine. It protrudes on the sides, giving a very pleasant airy feel. We find traces of his previous lives like an old recovery in massif, a dark spot on one side. But all this only strengthens his personality. It was exhibited for many years at the musée des arts et métiers in vannes. But before that, he served for decades at the famous association amicale et de prévoyance du personnel des poids et mesures (an institution at the beginning of the 20th century), based in bordeaux. We know this because the book of the "deliberations of the gas" remained in one of the drawers! We leaf through it with emotion, starting with the first, dated december 21st... 1901. Until the last one dated 1938—on the eve of world war II. This piece of furniture has been refurbished and revarnished and is in superb condition.
