Amazing set of the famous Lido 'sun chair', created by Swiss designers and brothers Battista and Gino Giudici, circa 1935 and manufactured around 1946 by Fratelli Giudici, Locarno for Wohnbedarf AG. This design was created for the Lido di Lugano, a swimming club in Lugano, Switzerland. The chair features two sitting positions. This set comes from its first owner who bought the Lido chairs after the war for their new house. The stools date from the same period (mid 20th century) but their designer/manufacturer is unknown. The frame has a striking silhouette and dynamic shape defined by both curved and straight lines. Made out of tubular steel poles which are galvanized inside and outside to be waterproof. Despite its stiff, precise silhouette, the chairs are lightweight, flexible, and bouncy. The armrests are made of orange rope wrapped around the tubular steel frame. The green canvas allows proper relaxation. By removing the fabric, the chairs are stackable to save space. All parts are authentic, so the piece is in its original condition. Size: H 101 cm, W 55 cm, D 105 cm, H seat 34 cm. Stools: H 40 cm, W 45 cm, D 43 cm.
