Very beautiful old botanical engraving from the 19th century, featuring two botanical plates hand-coloured, printed on the same double-sided sheet. On one side is represented Salix reticulata, or Reticulated Willow, accompanied by its names in French, Latin, and German/English. The plate is dedicated to the plants of "rock gardens, poor pastures from 1700 to 3000 m". On the other side is Alnus viridis, or Green Alder, also depicted with great botanical precision. This plate indicates the "shaded and humid slopes from 1200 to 2300 m". The two illustrations are finely detailed: the veins of the leaves, flowers, fruits, and branches are represented with great accuracy. The colours have been applied by hand, giving the whole a lovely natural range of greens, browns, and reds. 📐 Dimensions: approximately 15 × 11 cm. 🌿 Double-sided: one botanical illustration on each side. 🎨 Old engravings enhanced/hand-coloured. 📜 Period: 19th century.
